DRAMA
150 - DRAMA I
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12 * .50 CREDIT * Career Zone: AC
Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
Drama I provides the opportunity to study and develop skill in
improvisation, observation, concentration, character analysis,
dramatic criticism, voice and acting, stage movement, play
production, and theatre history. Extra time outside of class is
required. A performance is given at the end of the semester.
151 - DRAMA II
Grades 10, 11, 12 * .50 Credit * Career Zone: AC
Prerequisite: Drama I (150)
Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
Drama II provides the opportunity to study and develop skill in
scenery construction, costuming, make-up, directing, lighting,
and publicity. Extra time outside of class is required. A
performance is given at the end of the semester.
1152 - ADVANCED DRAMA

Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
Advanced Drama provides the opportunity for advanced level
drama students to further refine the following: acting styles,
dialects, and character analysis. Acting classifications,
auditioning for musicals and theatre, voice, preparing
monologues, scenes, play direction, play production,
pantomime, and choreography will also be studied. Strong time
management skills and self discipline is required as extra time
outside of class is required.
BAND
1980 - CONCERT BAND
Grade 9, 10, 11 * 1 Credit * Career Zone: AC
Prerequisite: Entrance by audition and/or consent of the instructor.
Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
This band is a performing group that contains musicians playing
the following instruments: Oboe, flute, Clarinet, Bassoon,
Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trumpet/cornet, Trombone,
Euphonium, Tuba, String Bass, Percussion. Fundamentals and
intermediate technique on the student’s primary instrument
along with rudimentary theory are taught along with learning
the performance repertoire. Five to six after school concerts
are given throughout the year (Including participation in
MSBOA B&O festival in March, registering as a Class D Senior HS
Band), and is part of the student’s grade to participate and
perform in these concerts. Students with previous band
experience and/or instructor permission may participate in this
class. This is open to grades 9-12 but recommended for 9-11.
1990 - MARCHING BAND
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12 * .50 Credit * Career Zone: AC
Prerequisite: Entrance by audition and/or consent of the instructor.
Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
Class meets the hour after school 1st and 4th quarters, with
extra rehearsals Monday nights. Students perform at local
community activities, athletic events, and out-of-state major
excursions.
987 - MUSIC SEMINAR (Rock Band)
Grades 11, 12 * .50 Credit * Career Zone: AC
Prerequisite: Teacher approval only (Level 5), Book Fee possible.
Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
Students have the opportunity to choose topics of interest and
develop specific projects for in-depth study. Class material is
based on individual interests and needs. Topics of exploration
include: composition, musicology, conducting and music theory.
This course offering is dependent on staff availability.
1984 - PERCUSSION SECTIONALS (Percussion Ensemble)
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12 * 1 Credit * Career Zone: AC
Prerequisite: Entrance by audition and/or consent of the instructor.
Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
Students in this class will build upon their current knowledge of
percussion through participation in rehearsals and
performances. Students will work with traditional keyboards,
rudimental drumming, hand drums, drum set, orchestral
percussion, and other instruments. This is not just a drum set
class.
1981 - SYMPHONIC BAND
GRADES 10, 11, 12 * 1 CREDIT * Career Zone: AC
Prerequisite: Entrance by audition and/or consent of the instructor.
Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
This ensemble is similar to Concert band, playing the same
instruments and similar curriculum. The difference is that more
difficult concepts and music are addressed in this class
(Symphonic Band registers as an MSBOA Class B Senior HS
Band). Entry into this band is by audition and/or Instructor
permission only. It is highly recommended that students have
several years of middle school and some high school band
experience before they take this class. The class is available to
grades 9-12 but is intended for 10-12.
1982 - WIND ENSEMBLE
GRADES 10, 11, 12 * 1 CREDIT * Career Zone: AC
Prerequisite: Entrance by audition and/or consent of the instructor.

This is the most advanced Concert ensemble.
CHOIR
1970 - A CAPPELLA CHOIR
Grades 10, 11, 12 * 1 Credit * Career Zone: AC
Prerequisite: Entrance by Audition Only
Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
Our MOST advanced choir open to only 10-12 grade by audition
only.
This class is designed for the musician who enjoys performance
on an advanced level. Exposure to various types of choral
literature with music from different periods of history as well as
contemporary composition and advanced vocal technique is
emphasized. Performance with this class requires a 2.0 grade
point average. Therefore, any student entering the class and/or
failing to maintain a 2.0 GPA should consider another course.
1971 - VARSITY MEN’S CHOIR
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12 * 1 Credit * Career Zone: AC
Entry level choir with no pre-requisite or audition (Level 1)
Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
The Varsity Men’s choir is for any male singer who desires to
improve his vocal music skill. The class will deal with problems
associated with the changing male voice, music reading, and the
performance of a variety of choral literature exploring different
styles. The men’s choir also serves as a preparation for the A
cappella choir audition.
1972 - VARSITY WOMEN’S CHOIR
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12 * 1 Credit * Career Zone: AC
Entry level choir with no pre-requisite or audition (Level 1)
Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
The Varsity Women’s choir is for any female voice who desires
to learn good techniques in singing. Students learn musicianship
through music reading and exploring a variety of choral
literature. The class will focus attention on the production of
good choral tone and serves as a preparation for Women’s
Select Choir, Women’s Chorale, and the A cappella Choir.
1976 - WOMEN’S CHORALE
Grades 10, 11, 12 * 1 Credit * Career Zone: AC
Prerequisite: Intermediate to Advanced, entrance by audition only (Level 3)
Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
This class is designed for the female singer who desires choral
literature at the advanced level. The class will explore various
styles and periods of music history. Vocal skills will be
developed with a focus on the more mature voice. Music
reading level will range from intermediate to advanced with
some exploration of the elements of music theory. This course
may provide an alternative to A cappella Choir. Performance
with this class requires a 2.0 grade point average. Therefore,
any student entering the class and/or failing to maintain a 2.0
GPA, should consider another course.
1974 - WOMEN'S SELECT CHOIR
GRADES 9, 10, 11, 12 * 1 CREDIT * Career Zone: AC
Prerequisite: Primary to Intermediate, entrance by audition only (Level 2) *9th
grade are assigned by 8th grade instructor.
Fulfills MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.
This class is for the female vocalist who wishes to continue
choral training. As ensemble members, participants learn to
develop good singing techniques and improve their
musicianship in preparation for A cappella Choir. Performance
with this class requires a 2.0 grade point average. Therefore,
any student entering the class and/or failing to maintain a 2.0
GPA should consider another course.
