The Howell High School Model United Nations Club is a Student run group of forward thinking and global individuals who are ready to make a difference on the stage of politics. Our Club works to involve the youth in global policy and decision-making in a wide variety of topics, preparing them for future careers, and providing a fun and engaging learning experience into the workings of the United Nations, its various organs and global politics.
MUN which stands for Model United Nations, is a simulation activity where students act as delegates of countries in different organs of the United Nations, discussing different topics. We give speeches, debate, exchange ideas, negotiate, and write resolutions. It is an excellent way to learn about past and present politics, our history (as it repeats itself) and about other countries and their inner workings. MUN provides delegates with valuable skills in debating, negotiating and public speaking, that are essential for all future careers. And last but not least, it is very fun!
Our Club holds weekly sessions every Thursday from 2:25-3:45 in the Literature Lab, with a topics and countries that varies weekly, with the purpose of preparing well rounded and competitive delegates to attend conferences all around Michigan in the Spring.
