My favorite novels to use in my classroom are from the authors that inspire me. I love, LOVE Kwame Alexander, Jason Reynolds, Lois Lowry, Kate DiCamillo, Gordon Korman, Alan Gratz and too many to list. Here's a message from Mr. Alexander....words and books are all you need to go places.

Brainscape is an app online and can be downloaded to the phone to practice Wilson Word stack cards every day.

The goal is fluency for automatic reading and accuracy.

Check this link of children's favorite books made into movies. Challenge your child to read the book first and then watch the movie to compare and contrast. Great activity for the entire family!

Motivation is key for your child to read this summer! Here is a website for parents to motivate your child to read, keep them reading and reward them for it.


Nothing like a good Scrabble game or any Family Game. Family Game Nights are important for communication, social and emotional support for your entire family. Copy this board to your Google Drive to save it as yours. Share with the players online or play together on one Screen. Make up the rules or follow traditional Scrabble rules. Most importantly, have fun!

Choice Boards are a great way to have your child practice thinking and problem solving skills without them realizing they are doing work. If you want to keep your child using their reasoning skills, choose one activity a day to keep them on their toes.

A few of my favorite books that are fun, enjoyable and filled with adventure.

A project is a great way for your child to learn and discover areas of interest. I am so proud of my 2020 7th graders. Their passion projects were truly about topics that they were curious and interested in. They learned so much. This year, we learned a signpost in reading that writers use called an 'Again and Again.' This is true with anything that you want to make permanent in your life--you must do it 'Again and Again.' Have fun!
