The Houston Independent School District (HISD) strongly believes in the educational value of electronic services and recognizes the potential to support curriculum and student learning by facilitating resource sharing, innovation, and communication.
James S. Hogg Middle School our mission is to collaborate as a community of learners to transform students into educated, creative, innovative, global citizens. We aim to ignite and nurture the potential of each student and learner to become the best expression of him or herself.
The district has provided students with a Digital Citizenship Course and information for parents, via Open House events and handouts, including information about how to care for the device and how to make responsible use of technology.
The student reads the "Acceptable Use Policy for Electronic Service for Students"
Use of this equipment for any purpose other than educational use may result in loss privileges. The district does not permit unethical use of the Internet, email, or any other media. Violation of this policy may result in the loss of the device privileges and disciplinary actions by our campus.
The students' parent/guardian accepts financial responsibility for any intentional damage to the Chromebook or damage due to gross negligence.

When students are finished working on the Chromebook for the day or after class it is important to keep it protected by placing it inside a backpack or a laptop cover.
Remind students to keep all food and drinks away from the Chromebook.
It is important for students to clear the keyboard BEFORE closing the Chromebook. Items left on the keyboard may cause damage to the screen when it is closed.
Parents/guardians are required to accept financial responsibility for cost related for replacement of a lost or stolen device or accessories, or for damage due to purposeful action or gross negligence. The district will proceed with legal action, should financial obligation be ignored.
The device, which is the property of Houston ISD, must be returned prior to the end of the school year, or in the event of school change or early withdrawal.
*A lost or stolen device should be reported to the campus technologist or school administrators within one school day.
