Upcoming project Needs.

(click here for a video on what we are making)

No sew sock rabbit and textile wardrobe project. Students will start reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo, American author.

Students will need to bring a clean sock, some ribbon, fabric swatches, a bag of dry beans to fill their sock, and a mini sewing kit (or the basics of one). They will make a sock rabbit and then create an outfit to reflect a persona created by the student. The student will then write poems and create a poem anthology based on their version of Edward Tulane.

Wednesday: The Power of Dance: You’ve just discovered that every time you dance, you can make people feel the same emotions you are feeling. Write about how you use this ability to help someone, or even the whole town, understand their feelings.

Thursday: Picture This: Drawings come to life in your sketchbook. Whatever you draw expresses what you’re thinking or feeling. Write about a time when one of your drawings escaped the page and communicated something important to the people around you.

Friday: (I know it's Friday but this one was too good to leave off, your choice if you do it.) The Secret Language of Nature: In your town, the wind, trees, and animals communicate messages and emotions through sounds and movements. 4th Grade Specials follow a rotating schedule that starts with Day 1 on the first day of school. Students cycle through five days, and if there’s a planned day off, we simply pick up with the next scheduled day when school resumes. However, if there's an unexpected school closure, we skip that day's Special and continue with the next day in the rotation.

On Fridays, instead of Specials, students participate in Electives. For example, if Thursday is Day 4, then Friday will be Electives, and Monday will be Day 5. We also have Science Lab and Library check-out on Fridays. While Library lessons may occur on other days, book check-outs will only happen on Fridays. See below rotation for your homeroom teacher.
