The vision of the Maths Badges is to develop extension and enrichment in mathematics. Interested students undertake in-depth mathematical investigations independently, or co-operatively, over an extended period of time developed within classroom programmes or in students' own time.
Make sure you select the right level of challenge for you:
CRACAMAC is related to Level 2 of the NZ Maths Curriculum
MAC is related to Levels 3-4 of the NZ Maths Curriculum.
If you are unsure which level is right for you, talk to your Maths teacher.
Students work from work cards and complete a total of 6 investigations from 2 sections:
Section A: Students select and complete 3 investigations, from a list of 5 from the work card.
Section B: Students select and complete 3 investigations, from a list of 6 from the work card.
Each investigation needs to be signed off on your work card by your Maths teacher.Badges and certificates are awarded on completion of all 6 investigations.
Click on the folders opposite to see a copy of the work cards for each of the CRACAMAC or MAC challenges. This will show you the investigation choices you will have for each badge challenge.
There is a description of the badge challenges below to help you to select one that will be interesting to you. You can also check out the MAC website.
