Students will understand that voting is a democratic right for all people of Aotearoa New Zealand and that our tūpuna fought hard to ensure this right was for all people.
Students will understand how mana | power is complex within a country. They will learn that mana | power can be used against others in both positive and negative ways.
Students will understand how protests can effect change. They will be able to understand perspectives from all sides and identify the changes faced.

Students will be able to identify how Māori gathered, stored and used kai within their settlements. They will identify what was imported with them and how a different climate affected their habbits.
Students will understand how trading impacted economic growth of Māori. They will understand that there are positive and negative outcomes to trading.
Students will understand how matariki is an important time for celebration within the Māori community.

Students will be able to identify places in New Zealand and what is special about these places in history.
Students will be able to share what New Zealands culture, Identity and language of New Zealand.
Students will be able to make informed judgements about how our actions in the past has shaped the way we are now in New zealand
