Kindergarten

A Note about Developmental Growth..

Children grow and develop as they are ready. We can neither force, nor rush the process. If one child is "further" along in terms of what they can do, we know that either they are not ready yet or they haven't had the motivation or experiences that will help to promote that development. Development through play is the best way to promote growth in young children. Parents should use discretion in determining and limiting the amount of screen time children spend in their day. Horizon School Division is not promoting screen time as the primary source of learning and developing for our youngest learners.

Many sites offer free sign ups. We are not recommending....

We do not expect that children are reading by the end of kindergarten. We support them as they are developmentally ready to move from where they are at to where they are moving to next. These sites help them to practice their understanding of letters and language, as well as get them engaged with books and stories.
