Joanne is majoring in Business Administration with a focus on Human Resources Management & Organizational Behavior Concentration. She is also a library student ambassador at Cal State East Bay. I love to volunteer and do community service with my other organization called Circle K International and I been involved in PASA over 4+ years!
I'm currently a Library Ambassador at CSUEB Library and I started in the Fall of 2022. With this program, my goal as a student ambassador is to connect the campus community with library-led programs and resources. Learn more about Library Ambassador on library website!
My role in PASA Online Exhibit is to help create this website with Daisy to make the physical exhibit come to life! I interviewed and edited current members/officers about their PASA journeys and experiences.
I have also been part of PASA (Pilipinx American Student Association) for 4+ years as an active general member, officer (Cultural Board - PCN Video Editing Lead and Cultural Director of Logistics in 21'-22'), and currently an Ate (older Sister) to my family line in Function Fam.
My inspiration to help in this project is from when I was Cultural Director of Logistics and helped led PCN 50: Sabado! We created a storyline about our Founder of PASA, Randy Sabado in 2022 and I'm happy we shared his story through PCN and from this online exhibit.
Daisy is a library faculty at Cal State East Bay. She is a bi-Latinx, Spanglish-speaking first-generation college student of Guatemalan heritage, an avid mountain biker/gravel rider, and a hula dancer.
My work in information literacy aims to acknowledge and use experiential and community knowledge by means of uplifting culture, music, language, arts, and literature, alongside academic and mainstream knowledge, to support our lifelong journeys in teaching and learning. My background in special collections/archives, community radio, and my ongoing love for memory work and storytelling, help me focus my outreach and engagement efforts towards culturally affirming organizations, such as the Pilipinx American Student Association (PASA), Sigma Omega Nu Latina Interest Sorority, Inc., and others. I aim to apply an anti-racist, decolonial, and culturally sustaining pedagogy in my efforts to collect, document, record, listen, share, and reproduce stories, cuentos, testimonios, oral histories, narratives, etc, in my teaching, research, and scholarship.
At Cal State East Bay, I am also the open resources librarian, as well as support the following subject areas: Art, International/Global Studies, Modern Languages & Literatures, Music, and Theatre & Dance. Learn more about my work or support by visiting my library research guides and faculty profile.
