This week, Class 2 had an exciting educational visit to Merton Park in York to launch their history unit on the Romans. The pupils stepped back in time and experienced life as Romans, gaining hands-on insights into ancient Roman culture, daily activities, and historical context. They participated in activities such as handling Roman artefacts, learning about Roman military formations, and trying out traditional crafts. The immersive experience helped the pupils understand what it would have been like to live in Roman Britain, from the bustling streets to the disciplined life of a soldier. It was a fantastic day that enriched their understanding, left them with lasting memories, and sparked curiosity for the rest of their history unit.
On Wednesday, we held a whole school assembly focused on remembrance, exploring why we remember and the significance of this event. The assembly tied into our school values of Kindness, Courage, and Community, helping pupils reflect on how these principles are embodied in acts of remembrance. I was incredibly proud of how respectful and thoughtful the pupils were during the assembly, showing genuine understanding and empathy. We also practised for our upcoming remembrance service, which will take place on Monday at 10:45 in Reid Park. Parents are warmly invited to join us as we remember together.
This is a quick reminder that this Friday is Children in Need. Pupils are encouraged to wear something spotty, Pudsey, or yellow and bring along a donation to support this worthy cause. Let’s make it a fun and charitable day!
