This week, powered by juice and jam tarts, the Horbury Bridge Academy Choir had its first rehearsal, led by Leonard, the Musical Director from church. The pupils sang a variety of songs and impressed everyone with their enthusiasm and sound.
The choir offers a great opportunity for pupils to explore music and enjoy singing together. There are still places available for any pupils in KS2 who would like to join. The choir hopes to perform for the first time by Christmas, which promises to be a special event.
Following our Meet the Teacher event, it was the turn of individual meetings this week. Many thanks for your support and turnout - we had nearly 100% attendance over the two days, and it was lovely to see and be able to speak with many of you. Lots of you said that you appreciated the opportunity to look through your child’s books, and it will be great later in the year for you to be able to see them again and the progress the pupils have made. These events form only a small part of our collaboration to support your child/ren. If, at any time, you would like to discuss how your child/ren is doing at school, please just get in touch.
Thankfully, due to the roadworks moving further up the hill, traffic has eased considerably. Whilst this will help the safety of pupils outside school, it won’t remove it completely. Having spoken to the Highways Team, Road Safety Team, and the contractors for the roadworks regarding the situation where drivers are mounting the curb dangerously - I have drawn a blank. However, we have been able to secure some cones from the contractors, which I hope to get early next week. Alongside the cones at the driveway entrance, we plan to put cones out on the pavement in front of the school from 08:30-09:00 and 15:00-15:30 to stop drivers from mounting the curb and putting the safety of pupils and parents at risk. We will continue to try and find a more permanent solution.
Following the success of last year’s cross-country team, with several qualifying for the West Yorkshire finals, next week sees this year’s competition spring into action. A trusty team of runners will be heading to Horbury Academy to represent the school. All we need before then is six feet of rain to make the event truly authentic!
Stay safe and have a lovely weekend.
Finally, a reminder for your diaries. KS1 & KS2 will be delivering our Harvest Festival on Wednesday 23rd October from 9:30am in the Church. All welcome!
Stay safe and have a lovely weekend.
