Horbury Bridge CE J&I Academy

Key Stage 2 Production

If you were lucky enough to be at last night's KS2 production of Cinderella and Rockerfella then you don't need to read on, because you already know what a simply amazing performance it was! From the very first note of the overture to the final bow, it was littered with world-class performances. From the beauty and simplicity of the duets to the perfectly timed humour - it was a joy to be in the audience.

The ensemble numbers were nothing short of spectacular. The energy and enthusiasm of the entire cast was infectious, and it was evident that they had put in countless hours of practice to perfect their performances.

As well as the pupils, The production team, led by Miss Riley and Mr Hammond, deserves immense praise for their hard work in bringing this show to life. From the directing to the costumes and props, every aspect was well-executed, resulting in a truly unforgettable show.

As well as the evening performance, this year, for the first time, we took the whole school to watch a dress rehearsal in the afternoon. The pupils in KS1 and EYFS sat in wide-eyed wonder as the lights flashed and the songs rang out - they can't wait until it's their turn!

Overall, the night was a testament to the talent and dedication of all our pupils in Key Stage 2. It showcased their passion for performing arts and left everyone in awe of their abilities. It was a night filled with laughter, tears, and applause...and a true celebration of creativity and talent.

Details of how you can order your very own recording of the show will be sent out early next week.

Another Winning Performance!

Following last week's Newsletter, which included Class 3's winning poem, I am delighted to announce that this morning, in a Trust-wide online assembly with all 11 schools from Enhance Academy Trust, Horbury Bridge Academy was announced as the overall winner of the Performance Poetry Competition! The pupils were absolutely delighted. Following last night's KS2 production, their amazing SATs outcomes and today's Leavers' Camp, this has really topped off their week. In fact, Seth (the strictest teacher!) was still doing laps of the campsite when I left this morning!

Whilst Class 3 accessed the assembly via an iPad in the Camp Site, the rest of the school joined together in the hall and it was lovely to see the joy on their faces as they celebrated the success of their peers - what a great team!

Next Year

Not something that is on your mind currently, I'm sure, but next week I will send out a list of key dates for the 2023/24 academic year. This will include the 5 INSET days.

Have a lovely weekend and we'll see you next week!
