Class 3 Residential

Last week, Class 3 went on an exciting residential trip to the Peak District, where they had an amazing time exploring the great outdoors and learning about the local history and culture. The trip was packed with exciting activities and adventures that kept the pupils engaged and entertained throughout their stay.

One of the highlights of the trip was the adventure day at Black Rocks, where the pupils got to try their hand at climbing, abseiling, traversing, and scrambling. They were taught the basics of these activities by experienced instructors, who ensured that they were safe and built confidence throughout the day. The pupils had a great time challenging themselves and pushing their limits. They all felt a great sense of achievement and it was lovely to hear all the ‘shout outs’ they gave each other that evening when we were reflecting on the trip.

The first day was spent in Buxton, where the pupils completed a detective hunt that took them on a tour of the town's landmarks and historical sites. They worked in teams to solve clues and puzzles, and they had a lot of fun exploring the town and learning about its history and culture.

On the final day we visited The Heights of Abraham, where they explored the caves and learned about the history of lead mining in the area. They were fascinated by the stories and artefacts they saw, and they learned a lot about the local industry and its impact on the community.

Of course, no trip to the Peak District would be complete without trying some of the delicious ice creams that are famous in the area. The pupils enjoyed sampling a variety of flavours and discussing their favourites.

The best part, though, is the memories they made as a team…memories that will hopefully last a lifetime!

Sports Day

What a fantastic day we had on Thursday and Friday at our Sports Days! The sun was shining, the children were full of energy, and the atmosphere was electric. I am so proud of all the pupils who participated and gave it their all in every race.

The egg and spoon race was a nail-biter, with the pupils showing remarkable balance and concentration. The sack race was a hilarious sight, with pupils struggling to stay upright in their sacks. The beanbag race was a real test of speed and agility, and the sprint was a thrilling display of raw athleticism. Who knew we would also see a new technique in the sack race now dubbed as “The Crab!’

But in the end, there could only be one winning team, and that team was Team Air! Congratulations to all the members of Team Air for their hard work and determination. You truly deserved to be crowned the champions.

Of course, whilst it feels great to have that winning feeling, it’s also about having fun and learning the value of teamwork and sportsmanship. I saw all of these qualities on display today, and I am so proud of our pupils for embodying them.

Thank you to all the parents and guardians who came out to support the pupils today. Your presence and encouragement mean a lot to us, and we hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did.

The presentation of the trophy and medals will take place on Monday as we kick off Wellbeing Week!

Wellbeing Week

As you are already aware, next week is our school's Wellbeing Week, and we have a range of activities planned to promote physical and mental health among our pupils - including our trips to Coxley Woods and Slazenger Sports Club for a day of outdoor activities.

Just a friendly reminder that pupils should wear sports kit for all activities during Wellbeing Week. This does not have to be the academy PE kit, but please ensure that your child wears appropriate clothing and footwear for the activities they will be participating in. For the Coxley Woods day on Tuesday, pupils should wear Forest School kit and bring a rucksack with a change of clothes.

Thank you for your continued support in our efforts to promote wellbeing among our pupils. We look forward to a fun and fulfilling week ahead!

Stars of the Week

Due to the Sports Days on Friday, we will be handing our our Stars certificates on Monday and will share recipients on ParentHub.

Have a lovely weekend.
