Horbury Bridge CE J&I Academy
World Book Day
As you can see from the photos opposite, World Book Day was a great success. All the pupils from Nursery to Year 6 worked in mixed-aged groups to produce some fabulous work related to their love of reading. This included making 'Disgusting Sandwiches' (yes, it's a book!); creating wonderful spiders' webs and writing compliments to others in school, based on the book 'The Spider and the Fly'; designing new characters for the story 'You Choose' and, finally, creating magical mermaid accessories to bring the fabulous book 'Julian is a Mermaid' to life! Many thanks to the whole staff team for organising the day and thanks to all parents and carers for providing the costumes/PJs.
Next up on our reading journey is a visit from an author, Elizabeth Green, who will be leading book workshops for all pupils based on her book, Detective Dopeyworth!
Little Wandle Phonics
We have now started delivering Little Wandle as our phonics scheme. As part of the transition, this is just a reminder that we have invited parents of pupils in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 to an introductory meeting on Wednesday 8th March at 4:15pm. this will take place in the Nursery classroom.
Tag Rugby
Following the success of our Tag Rugby team at the pyramid competition, we have qualified for the next round which will take place at Castleford Rugby Club at the end of March. The team are beyond excited and they can't wait to take on this next-level challenge!

St Johns and St Peters Church Events
There are lots of events happening which everyone is welcome to join with.
Baptism Brunch Saturday 4th March at 10am at St Peter's for anyone interested in having their child baptised
Messy Church continues each Tuesday straight afterschool at St John's Horbury Bridge.
Toddler group every Tuesday during term time at St Johns church from 9am.
