Living by our Christian Values: Together in Faith, Hope and Love

Friday 9th December 2022

It'sssssss Chrisssssssstmasssssssssss!

Well, that escalated quickly! Last week, we were in November and going about business as usual when BAM...Christmas hit us like a train (Insert Polar Express gag here!)...and what a week it has been! It all started with the Foundation Stage Nativity, which was as brilliant as it was adorable; Keys stage 1 dazzled us all with their version of Wriggly Nativity and we're all danced out after Wednesday's discos, featuring one Christmas banger after another! On Thursday, the Young Voices Choir performed for the Horbury Bridge Over 50s to a rapturous reception and Eliza and Molly wowed the audience with their very first public performance on Cello and Violin of Jingle Bells!

It doesn't stop next week either. Key Stage 2 have been busy rehearsing for their Carol Service next Monday and Tuesday evenings; we have the annual Horbury Bridge Academy Christmas Dinner (I'm going for a record 19 pigs in blankets this year); rumour has it we may be getting a visit from a very special guest...and we're finishing the term with our Christingle Service on Friday…followed by a sit-down!

With all the busyness and excitement, we mustn't forget that next week is also Mrs Callaghan's last week at Horbury Bridge Academy. It will be a very emotional week for us all and I know you will all want to wish her the very best.

Christmas Fair

Huge thanks must go again to the Horbury Bridge Academy PFA and all the staff for organising the Christmas Fair. After counting and verifying takings, I am delighted to say we raised over £1000. Thank you to everyone who came along and supported us - a real team effort!

Have a lovely weekend and please stay safe as the temperature drops and the frost sets in.

Safeguarding

‘Netiquette’

As we move towards Christmas, children may spend more time online. The online world can be a difficult place for children to navigate safely and appropriately. Internet Matters have created a list of what they think are the top “Internet Manners” (or netiquette) to help your children get to grips with behaviours that can help maintain a safer – and happier – Internet. We have enclosed their top 12 tips via this link. Please share these with your children and encourage them to adhere to them when online.

Safeguarding Concerns

If you have any concerns, you should report them to one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads.

They can be contacted on 01924 302800 or in person at the academy.

The Designated Safeguarding Leads at Horbury Bridge Academy are:

Mr R Tuddenham

Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead

Mrs R Denton

Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
