We've had a fantastic week at school, and it's been lovely to see the sunshine making an appearance despite the chilly temperatures. The children have thoroughly enjoyed playing on the field at break and lunchtimes, making the most of the fresh air and extra space to run around. We do, however, apologise in advance for the muddy knees that will need a good scrub this weekend!
We are absolutely thrilled to share the fantastic news that our Year 4-5 hockey team have been crowned champions of the Quick-Stick Hockey Tournament at Slazenger Hockey Club this week! Competing against schools from across our pyramid, the team put on an outstanding display of skill, teamwork, and determination, winning every single game to bring home the trophy. From the very first whistle, they showed great confidence, working together to score some brilliant goals and defend with resilience. This marks our third victory in the competition. A huge well done to every player who took part—you made us all incredibly proud!
Thank you to everyone who attended our parents' meetings this week. We were delighted to see such a great turnout, and we truly appreciate the care and commitment you show towards your child's education. We have received some really positive feedback, and it's wonderful to know how much you value and support both the school and your child's learning journey. Your partnership with us is incredibly important, and we are grateful for your continued support.
A reminder that next Friday is Red Nose Day. This is always a fantastic day to support, and children are welcome to come in non-uniform and bring a red nose if they would like to. We look forward to a fun day raising money for a great cause!
This week, Class 2 had a visit from the school nursing service for a fascinating session on healthy lifestyles. The children learned all about the importance of a balanced diet, exercise, and looking after their wellbeing—but the biggest surprise of the session came when they discovered just how much hidden sugar is lurking in everyday foods! Comparing the sugar content in cereals, yoghurts, and even so-called ‘healthy’ snacks, they were amazed (and slightly horrified!) at how quickly the grams add up. There were plenty of gasps when they realised just how much sugar is in some of their favourite drinks, too! It was a brilliant, eye-opening session, and while we certainly won’t be putting you off your Friday night takeaway, we hope it’s sparked some interesting conversations at home.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend. Stay safe and take care.
