The festive season is in full swing at Horbury Bridge Academy, and it’s been a truly magical start with the EYFS Nativity and the KS1 Christmas production. Both performances were simply wonderful, showcasing the talents and enthusiasm of our pupils. A huge well done to everyone involved—you’ve made us all so proud!
This week’s Christmas discos are another highlight of the season! Both discos were filled with laughter, excitement, and some truly unforgettable moments.
It was wonderful to see so many happy faces as the children danced to their favourite tunes, played games, and indulged in classic party food. From the youngest pupils showing off their best moves to our older ones leading the dance floor with enthusiasm, the atmosphere was electric. And, of course, no Christmas disco at HBA would be complete without the infamous HBA Conga! This year’s conga line snaked its way through the hall (and most of the grounds!), growing longer with every step...the eagle-eyed amongst you will be able to spot Mr Hammond leading the way out of the hall!
A special mention must go to the staff, who not only helped organise the event but also joined in with gusto, bringing their own unique (and questionable!) dance moves to the floor. It’s safe to say that the pupils weren’t the only ones having fun!
The discos were a perfect way to spread festive cheer and celebrate the season. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the events a success—we couldn’t do it without your support.
Following up on the excitement we shared a few weeks ago about the Wakefield-wide Roller Bike Competition, we are now delighted to report the incredible achievements of our pupils! Competing against schools from across the district, our teams performed brilliantly!
A massive congratulations to our Year 3 team, who raced to victory and secured 1st place 🥳 with an outstanding average time of 37.27 seconds per child—a truly remarkable achievement!
Years 4, 5 and 6 also performed fantastically, all racing to 2nd place and Year 2 finished a healthy 6th place!
Across all year groups, our pupils demonstrated resilience, determination…and super-fast legs, competing against some tough contenders. This is a district-wide competition, so achieving these results is a significant accomplishment and a testament to the effort our pupils put in.
Well done to everyone who participated—you’ve made our HBA community incredibly proud!d
Have a lovely weekend
