This Wednesday, we took a dozen (yes, they ended up being a ‘Dirty Dozen’ for those of you who like a WWII film reference!) of our pupils to the Wakefield Cross Country Finals, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts! Each of them ran their heart out in tricky conditions, showing incredible determination and team spirit throughout the event. We’re thrilled to share that several of our runners finished in the top 10—a fantastic achievement!
We are currently waiting for the official results and confirmation of who has qualified for the next stage, which will be the West Yorkshire Final held at Nostell Priory. As soon as we have more information, we’ll update everyone.
A big thank you to all the parents who helped with transport to the event. Your support is greatly appreciated and makes these opportunities possible for our children!
We’re excited to share that we’ve introduced a new Personal Challenge Area at break and lunchtimes! This is another step in our wider plans to offer pupils more engaging and active options during these times. This week’s personal challenge was ‘Rapid Rebound,’ expertly led by our Class 3 Playground Leaders. It’s been a huge success, with many pupils taking part and having fun while staying active.
Next week, the challenge will be ‘Super Skip,’ and we’re also introducing a brand new construction area where pupils will be able to build dens and other creative structures during break and lunch. After the large delivery of woodchip—something we’re sure you couldn’t miss!—the Church Garden is now even more weatherproof, providing a fantastic space for pupils to enjoy throughout the coming weeks and months.
Just a quick reminder that the Church Autumn Fair is happening tomorrow from 10am to 3pm. While this isn’t a school event, we will be there running a fun bottle game, and we’d love to see you all come along and support the fair.
A big thank you to everyone who has kindly donated bottles for the game—your generosity is much appreciated! We hope to see many of you there enjoying the stalls, games, and a lovely community day.
Silly Hair Day will be taking place on Thursday 24th October! Organised by the Horbury Bridge Academy Community Friends (our PFA), this fun dress-up event invites pupils to style their hair in the silliest, wackiest, or most creative way possible. Colourful hair accessories, temporary hair dye, or any fun hair accessories are welcome!
A minimum donation of £1 is suggested, and all funds raised will go directly towards our PFA Playground Fund, helping to enhance outdoor spaces for all pupils.
Please see the attached image for more details, and thank you for your support!
Finally, another quick reminder that our Harvest Festival is taking place next Wednesday at 9:30am in the church. This year, the church has partnered with Kinsley Food Bank, which is run by the Church of Resurrection, Kinsley. The food bank was established after the closure of the Central Foodbank at Church House, and the churches of St. Peter’s and St. John’s have decided this year to support its ongoing development.
Thank you to everyone who has already donated—we are incredibly grateful for your generosity! If you haven’t had the chance to donate yet, there’s still time. Every contribution, big or small, will make a difference. We look forward to seeing you at the service.
Have a lovely weekend
