The Upper Division History Department has organized a year-long speaker series to address the historical roots of current-day issues related to race and ethnicity in the United States. Because everything has a history, the past informs the present. Understanding that past will enable us to grapple more effectively with the deeply complex and often painful realities that not only grab the latest headlines, but also shape our day-to-day lives at school, at home, and in public spaces. In addition to sponsoring a monthly evening event open to the HM community, the History Department will provide reading lists and facilitate discussions for UD students, faculty, and staff.
