Most schools and colleges require applicants to submit images of their work electronically. This is why digitally archiving your work and keeping it all organized is so important. Each school handles this part of the process differently. Some use a digital portfolio tool called Slideroom, and some use an alternative tool or their own system. When finalizing your applications be sure you know where and when your portfolio must be uploaded and submitted during this process. Some schools will give you their own link, and others will allow you to submit your portfolio via the Common App, a general application for admission that is used by many colleges.
In addition to standard college application fees, be advised that some schools and colleges require an additional fee to submit your portfolio. When you're researching and planning keep this in mind. Fee waivers are available for those who qualify for financial need.
