Mysteries of the Titanic

Open to Grades 2nd & 3rd—Have you ever wondered what it was like those last few hours on the Titanic? Or wished you could have discovered the first artifacts buried deep at sea from that frightful night? This is your chance to be a passenger on this mysterious ship and discover eerie artifacts from the night the Unsinkable Titanic sank to the bottom of the cold dark sea! Are you brave enough?

Miraculous Machines

Open to Grades 2nd & 3rd— Do you like to transform traditional everyday items and unique objects into functional pieces of equipment that work together to execute a simple task. Come and create Rube Goldberg simple machine using items like marbles, dominoes, straws to design your own simple machine.

Art from the Heart

Open to Grades 4th & 5th—Are you eager to discover and learn about art created by the great masters? You will be creating hands-on art in the styles of the great masters. Each art process will focus on a style of one artist. Learn about the impressionistic style of art through Monet and Van Gogh and discover your individual creativity.

ECHO - Environmental Conservation Heroes Organization

Open to Grades 4th & 5th—You are a member of ECHO and have been called into action to save the flora and fauna along the Mississippi River after a massive oil spill occurs. You will learn about the environmental consequences of water pollution and determine which methods are best to conserve the plants and animals along the Mississippi River Basin.

Picturing the Passage (A Guide to Illustrating)

Open to Grades 6-8—Ever been reading a book and could see what was happening so clearly in your mind? Ever wished you could get that image onto paper? Now you can! You will be able to illustrate a book cover, your favorite passages, or your own writing! Learn how to bring your imagination to life with meaningful and powerful illustrations that capture your favorite works of literature!

Raspberry PI, Python, and Light Rings

Open to Grades 6-8—Have you ever wanted to work with a computer the size of a credit card, do you want to learn some basic programming? Would you like to see your program come to life? Spend two Saturdays learning the basics of Raspberry Pis, learn to code in Python, and program a light ring and see what kind of bright ideas you can come up with.
