1. Radio Michael Tollin , 2003
During these times segregation was still a thing, and a man by the name of Radio happened to be a minority with a mental disorder. He had frequent stops at the football fields where one day the football players started to mess with him. The coach, a white man, quickly put a stop to this, and the players suffered the consequences. The coach took Radio under his wing, which created tension between him and the town.
2.Coach Carter Thomas Carter, 2005
This movie demonstrates drive, determination, and respect. It also shows how a team should work as a unity. I believe this movie creates a lot of controversy, because nobody likes having a strict coach, but all in all it's just tough love. Sometimes we need to hear what we don’t want to hear.
3. The Hate U Give (THUG) George Tillman, 2018
THUG. The name many minorities are given. Black people, who make up 13 percent of the U.S population, accounted for 27 percent of those shot and killed by police. This movie is really heartfelt and dives into the meaning behind that statistic.
4.Life Ted Demme, 1999
After a cop kills a black man and gets away with it for pinning it on two black men passing through the deep south, they serve life in jail. Between 2% and 10 % convicted individuals are actually innocent. We can see that the number of innocent people behind bars is anywhere from 46,000 to 230,000.
5.Green Mile Frank Darabont, 1999
Just like the movie Life, Wrongfully committed of murder John Coffey serves death row. They looked at him as a monster, but really was a gift from God. Before Coffey’s execution he healed a urinary tract infection, a dead mouse, and cancer. The message I see in this, is although the odds are against you, don’t change who you are. John Coffey stayed true to himself throughout all he has been through.
6. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button David Fincher, 2008
Cherish every day throughout the good and the bad. With this man aging backwards time is different for him and his wife, as she grows older, he grows younger. You should just enjoy the day for what it is and take it slow, because it’s not promised to everyone.
7. Beetlejuice Tim Burton , 1988
I’m not going to lie, I recommend this movie just because it’s my favorite. It’s my favorite personally because it’s about a couple trying to regain control over their home from the afterlife. Also, who doesn’t love TIM?!
8.Little Shop Of Horror David Geffen, 1986
Escaping to a home away from home. For the most part living in the same place all your life can be depressing for some. Wanting for a better life is never a bad thing. Just go for it, but with some precaution.
9. Forrest Gump Robert Zemeckis, 1994
Some may know the famous “Run, Forest, Run”, the message I find behind these simple three words is, Although people may have bad intentions for you, or against you, you take that energy and make it better. After the kids scream this to him, he ran as fast as he could, and broke from his leg braces, and just kept running. Once a boy walking on leg braces, is now running without them.
10. Spiderman No Way Home Jon Watts, 2021
It’s going to be talked about a lot in the future and on top of that I think it’ll be the only live action movie with all three Spiderman characters and for the first time it is the best experience.
