I used my 10 dollars to show my appreciation to teachers because they go unnoticed, and I gave my leftover money to a student for food.
I baked some brownies for teachers and showed appreciation. I feel like since there are so many teachers that take their time out for me. It would be kind to bake something for them. I just hope that I made each teacher’s day.
I wanted to show the teachers that someone appreciates them. Too many students in Hopewell High don't really appreciate them. They disrespect the people who try to motivate them to do something positive. It seems like they never had guidance on how to appreciate teachers.
I gave my leftover money to a student on the field trip who couldn’t pay for his food. I felt bad because he said he was hungry, so I gave him the rest of the money that I didn’t need for baking ingredients.
If I could start over I would ask the teachers what type of snacks they want rather than assuming they would all like brownies. We should do more to appreciate excellent teachers. The school system should do something like hold a little gathering and give out snacks, drinks, and more for them. I think other teachers should appreciate each other because when the students see they will do it.
Thank you.

Antonio:
I combined my 10 dollars with another student to show appreciation to our school nurses and I.T. department. Most people don’t know how much work our IT people do for us the amount of hard work they put in for us and I chose to show them and the nurses some appreciation. The whole department is made up of 4 people: Vince, Krystal, and Jonathan under the supervision of Kris Reed. They fix everything that has to do with tech, such as computers, projectors, tablets etc. Most students don't realize how much time it takes to set everything up, clean devices, put wifi and other things on all computers used by students and teachers.
We showed appreciation to our nurses because they take care of us and always have a smile on their faces.
Our lead nurse, Sarah Thacker works with Angela Dunaway. They make sure that the students in our school are healthy. They do more than just hand out band-aids and cough drops. They provide first aid care and health assessments, communicate with the staff, administer medications and monitor delegated medication administration. We chose to show appreciation to our school nurses because they do so much for us.
Thank you.
Nyla:
I spent my 10 dollars on homemade cookies for the staff members Antonio mentioned. He and I combined our 10 dollars for this project.
I was able to make peanut butter cookies successfully on my first attempt. I messed up the first time I tried to make chocolate chip cookies. I put too much brown sugar and the instructions were a bit wrong. It told me to add baking soda, which made the cookies flat.
The second time, my teacher Mr. Halas helped me and he taught me that baking soda is not the best thing to use when you're trying to make fluffy cookies. We made that batch in class and found it was best to use baking powder. I had fun making them and what made me even happier was the smile I saw on the nurse's and I.T. people's faces.
Thank you.

I donated Things for the first graders of Ms. Majewski’s class at Dupont Elementary.
I bought things for Ms. Majewski because I know dealing with little kids is not easy. Originally, I decided to buy spray. Some kids have allergies and health conditions, so I didn't do that. I went with Hand Sanitizer, Wipes, a card holder, a pencil holder, and a box of soft tissues. I brought in cans of food for my classmate who was collecting them for the Hopewell Food Pantry. I donated them to help him and help my community
I emailed Dupont’s Assistant Principal, Patricia Lobo. I checked in with Ms. Majewski recently; the kids really appreciated it and the items came in handy.
Thank you.

I used my ten dollars for a good cause for somebody special who helped me when I was younger. I used my ten dollars on my Kindergarten teacher Ms. Harvey. The best way to improve my community was to give back to Harvey by helping get supplies for her class now because education is a key investment.
The reason I chose to help Ms. Harvey is because this is my favorite teacher that I ever had. She actually taught me and my brother. She was my favorite teacher because she really took her time and helped me in any way she could and my way of giving back to her is by choosing her for my $10 challenge.
Providing school supplies was the most efficient way to support Ms. Harvey. I emailed her and my teacher spoke with her to learn what her class could use most. She said the supplies needed were glue sticks and crayons. I took the ten dollars that Coach Halas gave us and I went to Dollar Tree and brought the supplies they needed. Also my Aunt and Mom Donated in and gave me notebooks and markers if needed.
Education is the best investment to improve young lives. Education is a key investment because I want everybody to have the help that I had when I was younger. Ms. Harvey made sure the whole class was doing what they were supposed to do. Some people who don't get the right education sometimes take the wrong path. I made sure I didn't take that path, and Ms. Harvey helps kids make that choice every day.
Thank you.
