The Primary Maths Challenge is an optional challenge for HOPE students in Years 2-5. Every few weeks, a new challenge will be posted that you can try to solve.

Your task is to work individually or in a team of two or three (you could team up with your siblings or friends) to solve the latest maths challenge. As you go, I would like you to document the process. What was your thinking? How did you approach this? What did you try? What mistakes did you make? How did you get to your final product or answer?

Each presentation should be a short video (3-4 minutes). If you cannot make a video, you may enter4.-8 slides with photos and an explanation of what you did.

The Maths Problem Solving Process (see below) is a great model to use for these.

Is it compulsory?

No - the primary maths challenge is optional. You are encouraged to participate because you love learning.

Can my mum or dad do it for me?

The main ideas for the solutions to come from you. You are allowed outside help. If you did get some help from someone not in your team, please mention that in your video or presentation.

What if I miss the deadline?

Feel free to send the solution through, but you may miss out on the chance to be featured on this page.

How do I submit an entry?

Your completed work should be uploaded to Google Drive and shared with me (pri.deputy@hope.edu.kh).
