Ann Ellis Harper

About Me

Hello Spain Park! My name is Ann Ellis, and I’m a senior. I am passionate about leadership, service, and positively impacting our school. I’m actively involved in The Sweetheart Guild of Birmingham, Peer Helping, Diamond Dolls, and Hoover Belles, where I have had the opportunity to grow as a leader and serve alongside hardworking students.Through these experiences, I’ve developed strong communication, organization, and leadership skills, and I truly enjoy finding ways to bring people together and make a positive impact. Whether it’s mentoring others, planning events, or supporting my classmates, I’m always eager to help create a welcoming environment for everyone. As I enter my senior year, I’m especially excited for the opportunity to help lead the student body and make this year memorable, inclusive, and fun. I’m looking forward to continuing to serve, connect, and represent my peers in the best way possible!

Leadership

Academy

This year was SGA's second year hosting the Leadership Academy. Local Elementary schools sign up to participate in the Academy. The students are coached by SGA leaders and cover topics such as confidence, communication, teamwork, and leadership. The students also get the opportunity to work alongside the high school students to create digital media to promote their school programs. The elementary students leave Spain Park ready to create a positive impact on their schools. Feedback was provided after the Academy and Included responses such as...

Spain Park Holiday Tree

During the Holiday season, SGA decorates a holiday tree for the front lobby. Decorating for the school promotes seasonal cheer while also representing many Spain Park groups. The ornaments on the tree represent all of the school groups, clubs, and organizations. Some of these groups include E-sports, Rock climbing club, DECA, Spanish club, and so many more. These ornaments have been hand made by students from each group. The tree gives students a way to be creative, promote school spirit, and work together!

Homecoming

As a group, SGA planned, hosted, and attended the 2026 Gatsby gala. From determining a theme, to decorating the competition gym, there was tremendous work behind the scenes. SGA members formulate homecoming spirit week dress up days, paint banners for the football game, pep rally, spirit week, and dance. Members also dedicated time to sell dance tickets outside of the lunchroom. The theme for the dance was voted on by the student body. Some student quotes reguarding the dance include, "This year's DJ was good", "The attendance was great", and "Best Homecoming yet".

Institute

Our Student Government Association president for the class of 2027, Jonathan Fonbah, attended the Hoover City Schools' Institute ceremony. Jonathan was honored to represent Spain Park High School and Emcee for the occasion. Jonathan worked alongside Claire Michael Davis, Hoover High Schools President for the year, as they learned new ways to effectively show leadership and make a change within their terms. Jonathan states that the Institute event was "A great opportunity to connect with Hoover City Schools educators, and a perfect way to start off the school year"( President Jonathan Fonbah). Jonathan Is excited to work alongside Student Government this school year to create positive change, inside and outside of Spain Park High School.

Hoover PD Movie Night

Mia Davis used her leadership, as she represented Spain Parks Student Government and Ambassador associations at the Hoover PD movie night. Mia served the city of Hoover by welcoming families to the event as well as serving meals. Mia states "I loved the back to school movie night because I got the opportunity to be a part of an event for the whole city of hoover and got to meet students from across Hoover who were passionate about creating a great event for everyone"(Secretary Mia Davis). Mia clearly represents not only what it looks like to serve Spain Park, but also what it looks like to serve the community outside of school.
