La Misión de las Bibliotecas del Distrito Escolar de Hood River Valley

To empower students by teaching them to become enthusiastic, lifelong readers and seekers of truth in our information full world.

We support students’ independent reading, research, dreams and ambitions through fostering their love of reading and quests for knowledge...

Video 1: How to place a hold on a library book that will be delivered to your English classroom.

Video 2: Ask your English teachers about carts of books in the classroom. Library Book Carts can be requested and delivered to your classroom for a few days or a week. Students can self-select books from the cart, write down their info and the book info on the provided paper and we will process when the cart is picked up. These carts contents can be made by request, or we will have carts with a great curated selection ready for you.

Video 3: Digital Library, aka SORA (student video), audio and ebook services. Look for the astronaut app on the iPad. Also available for free download via the app store to your phone. It is like Netflix for books. Student login: hrvxxxxxx (lower case hrv+ 6 digit student ID). Staff login differently than students do, staff should select the staff tab, username and password are the same as your computer log in.

Video 4 : If you already use the free audio and ebook services from the public library or you want to link your public library account. You can link your accounts in the SORA app to search both libraries at once. You need to do this in the settings tab after you log in.

We also are taking book requests here, students and staff, please look in our library catalog first for books before making requests. If you do not know how to do this watch video 1 again.

If you want to apply for a Hood River County Library card, or have students apply for a card, you can do so HERE

If you have any questions, please reach out to Ann Zuehlke or Matthew Gerlick. We are looking forward to delivering book carts and having kids hold, smell, and engage in stories and interests through books once again while the library is still closed.
