iPad Quick Tips

Try these first if something isn't working!

  1. Make sure your iPad is updated to iPadOS 13.0 or higher

  2. Charge your iPad and connect to wifi overnight as often as possible

  3. Close all apps and reset your iPad

  4. Allow “Cross-Site Tracking/Pop Ups/Cookies” (on Safari and Chrome)

  5. Request Desktop Website (Safari)

  6. Use a school account only and log out of personal accounts

  7. Remove/Clear Website Browsing Data (Safari and Chrome)

Acellus Quickstart Guide

Logging In

  1. Navigate to https://www.acellus.com (use the Safari web browser)

  2. Click "Student Sign-In"

  3. In the "Acellus ID" field enter your school email address (firstname.lastname@hoodriver.k12.or.us)

  4. In the "Password" field enter two zeroes followed by your student ID number (like this: 00123456)

  5. Click "Sign In"

Completing Work

  1. Click the "Classes" button to see a list of the courses you are enrolled in. Click on a class to begin watching videos or complete assignments.

  2. Click the "Special Lessons" button to see which lessons you need to complete in addition to the videos and assignments on the "Classes" section. Message or Email your teacher if you have any questions about Special Lessons.

Checking Progress and Grades

  1. Click the "Progress" button to see your overall progress in each class. Use the "Select a Class" menu on the left to choose which class you want to view.

    • The "Weekly Progress Report" section in the middle of the screen helps you decide how many steps to complete each day. You'll want to follow these suggestions so you don't fall too far behind.

  2. Click the "Score" button to see more details about your overall grade in a course, as well as any comments from your teacher. You can click on each class for even more details about the steps you've completed!

Logging In

  1. Navigate to hroa.schoolsplp.com (use the Safari web browser)

  2. Click the blue "Log in with Clever" button

  3. In the "Username" field enter your school email address (firstname.lastname@hoodriver.k12.or.us)

  4. In the "Password" field enter two zeroes followed by your student ID number (like this: 00123456)

Completing Work

  1. If the system automatically brings you to the "Messages" tab, this means that you must respond to one or more messages from a teacher before SchoolsPLP will let you begin your work. Click on each message to respond.

    • Alternatively, you can press the "Acknowledge without replying" link instead of sending a message to the teacher.

  2. Click the "Overview" tab to see a list of all classes you are enrolled in. Click the "Work on this course" link to see the available activities for a course.

  3. Click the "Start Your Next Assignment" button on the left side of the screen to work on an activity.

    • You can also just click the links for each activity under the "Assignment" column to work on an activity as well.

  4. If an activity requires you to submit anything for a grade, there will be buttons at the very bottom of the screen. These buttons will be blue or red and say something like, Submit My Work, Mark Activity Complete or Next.

    • However, not all activities require you to submit something since not every activity is counted in your grade. If you have finished interacting with everything on an activity and there does not seem to be anything to submit, you can just press the "Next Activity" button near the top-right of the screen and move on to the next section.

    • If these videos still do not answer your question or solve your problem, please Message or Email your teacher and describe your issue to them.

Checking Progress and Grades

  1. Click the "Report Card" tab to see a brief overview of your progress and grade in each course.

  2. For more details about your progress and grade, click the "Overview" tab and then click on the title for the course you would like to view.

    • This "Overview" section is organized into columns for information such as "Score", a suggested "Pace Date"and "Grade Weight" for each activity in a course.

    • Score - this column will not always give a percentage or letter grade for each activity. If the "Grade Weight" for an activity shows 0.00% then you will only receive a black checkmark under the "Score" column for that activity.

      • Also, if the system does not award a checkmark, please Message or Email your teacher so they are aware and advise you on next steps.

    • Pace Date - this column gives suggested due dates for each activity.

    • Grade Weight - this column shows how much each activity is worth in terms of the overall grade in a course. As mentioned above, not all activities count towards the total score in a course. These kinds of activities should be treated as important homework assignments that are not graded - if you neglect these activities, you are likely to struggle on the assessments that do count towards your overall grade.

ORVED Quickstart Guide

Logging In

  1. Navigate to orved.geniussis.com (use the Safari web browser)

  2. ORVED does not allow HRCSD students to use the same username and password as all of our other platforms. Instead, ORVED will email you the specific login information you need to use.

Using the Platform

Hood River Options Academy partners with ORVED to offer special courses that we are not able to support directly within our program. Due to the nature of this partnership, ORVED is a platform that uses their own teachers and support staff.

HROA will always try our best to help students troubleshoot issues or find answers but it is best to contact your teacher within the ORVED platform first to learn how to use their system and find answers to your questions.

Gmail Quickstart Guide

Logging In

  1. Navigate to mail.google.com (use the Safari web browser)

  2. If Gmail asks you to enter an email or phone number, please enter your full school email address (firstname.lastname@hoodriver.k12.or.us)

  3. If Gmail ask you for a password, please enter two zeroes followed by your student ID number (like this: 00123456)

Sending an Email

  1. Click the "Compose" button in the upper-left corner of the screen.

  2. Enter the full email address of the person you want to send a message to in the field that says "To"

  3. Click in the field directly beneath the "To" area and replace the word "Subject" with a title for your message.

  4. Click in the field directly beneath the "Subject" area and type your message.

  5. When you've finished typing your message, click the "Send" button near the bottom of the screen.
