A Message from our Chief of Police-
On Tuesday January 31, 2023 just before 6:30 p.m an unknown person posted words that amount to a threat in the chat room of the live stream of the Hondo vs Crystal City basketball game. Hondo Police Department Officers, Medina County Sheriff’s Deputies and a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper responded to Hondo High School. An Investigation was immediately initiated and is ongoing at this time. While this we are in the early stages of the investigation we do not believe there to be a credible threat to the safety of our students. Law Enforcement remained at the campus to ensure the children were able to finish their game with out incident. We are in communication with State and Federal partners as well as the Medina County DA, Medina County Sherriff’s Office, Zavala County Sherriff’s Office and Crystal City PD to aid in identifying the person who made this post. Again, this is an active investigation. Please know we are doing everything within our scope to ensure our students are safe and to identify the person responsible for this threat.
A huge thank you to Hondo PD and Medina County Sheriff's Office for their amazing response this evening. Thank you for keeping our community safe!
