READING LANGUAGE ARTS ENGLISH COURSES McDowell Middle School
Bluebonnet Learning Secondary Mathematics is a comprehensive instructional resource designed for Texas students in grades 6–8 and Algebra I. Developed under the Texas Education Agency’s Open Educational Resource (OER) initiative, it offers full-subject, Tier One materials that align 100% with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) .
CARNEGIE LEARNING MATHEMATICS
Our upper level middle and high school math curriculum is powered by the Carnegie Learning Texas Math Solution, a TEKS-aligned program designed to deepen students' understanding of mathematics. The program combines print and digital resources to support collaborative learning and individual practice. Students engage in interactive lessons, real-world problem-solving, and receive personalized support through the MATHia platform. This approach encourages critical thinking and prepares students for success on the STAAR assessments.
Secondary students tackle science with McGraw-Hill using a blend of structured print and optional digital tools. Their learning is anchored in interactive textbooks and notebooks, where the 5E instructional model and Cornell-style note-taking foster active exploration and critical thinking. Reading Essentials sections within these materials help students navigate complex topics through guided annotation and comprehension strategies. Meanwhile, optional digital platforms offer simulations, quizzes, and interactive content—though many schools choose to supplement or even bypass them, relying instead on the printed resources for day-to-day learning and accessibility.

Our middle school English Language Arts program uses the CommonLit Curriculum, a research-based, standards-aligned resource designed to build strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. Through engaging texts, discussion, and evidence-based writing, students strengthen comprehension while developing a lifelong love of reading.
Savvas myPerspectives Texas is a high school English Language Arts program crafted to deepen student literacy in ways that are meaningful to our diverse learners. Fully aligned with TEKS and ELPS standards, this curriculum features rich, multi-genre and multimedia texts framed by essential questions, and guided through a gradual-release model—from whole-class instruction to group work and independent thinking. Delivered via the Savvas Realize platform, students engage with interactive lessons, real-time feedback tools, and meaningful assessments—all designed to build confidence in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
In Lowman Education’s middle school social studies, students follow a spiraled structure every school day: they begin with a quick warm-up to activate prior knowledge, dive into a focused lesson featuring source analysis and group discussions, practice new concepts through an assignment, and wrap up with an exit ticket to reflect on learning. These routines build consistency, reinforce understanding, and keep students on track—all while helping teachers streamline their planning.
This year, our high school students are exploring the world through the TCI World Geography and World History programs. These TEKS-aligned curricula bring history and geography to life with interactive lessons, real-world connections, and engaging activities. Students will analyze primary sources, participate in inquiry-based projects, and develop critical thinking skills that prepare them for active citizenship in a global society. Our US History students will use HMH US History to analyze primary sources, participate in inquiry-based projects, and develop critical thinking skills that prepare them for active citizenship in a democratic society.
