💡Start with your Essential Standard(s) and always the end in mind- What will students learn?
💡Be careful your choice board isn’t driven by technology! Have non-tech options too!
💡Rubrics make everything easier! Have rubrics/ directions typed up and clearly posted.
💡Allow collaboration and group work when possible!
💡Make sure to consider time when creating your board. How much time will it take:
to create?
for students to complete task(s)?
for you to grade?
🪜Make sure to explain clearly each option. This might take an entire class period. Have options typed up for students to refer to later.
🪜It’s good to have students talk about the choices in a small group before they make their selection(s). Do they understand what each option means?
🪜Some students may look for an easy way out… Make sure they don’t have one!
🏆Celebrate all student work
🏆Make time for students to present and share their work (if it is a project or something where applicable)
🏆Try to accumulate high-quality work samples for next year!
🏆Post-conferences or reflection questionnaires can be helpful for teachers to adapt, update, and change for the next year.
Use as a final project or even short checkpoints along the way!
Allow students who finish early to choose an option from the choice board.
Give choices for homework. Students can pick a number of problems from each section or different ways to show what they have learned
Use choices for students during free play or for extra credit!
Creative and want to make your own?
Use Google Apps like Docs, Slides, Drawings, or even Sites!
