A longtime Homer coach and teacher is retiring after decades of dedication to his peers and students. Mr. Patriarco is set to retire at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.
Mr. Patriarco has decided to hang up the whistle and the badge and move on to retirement. In his career he taught Earth Science and coached basketball and lacrosse. He is unsure if he will continue to coach after retirement from teaching.
With both of his children, Gracie and Dante, now in college he feels that it is the perfect time to retire at age 62.
When asked about retirement, Mr. Patriarco said: “Nothing’s different, I actually do not view anything differently at all. But I get reminded everyday by students and teachers that it's my last year.”
Mr. Bradshaw, of the Social Studies Department, feels saddened by the retirement of his colleague of over 15 years. “When you know a guy for a long time it’s hard to say goodbye.”
Ben Bradshaw, a member of the lacrosse team, said: “His sense of humor and personality make him a great coach.”
Mr. Patriarco will certainly be missed when he retires in June having left a large impression on colleagues, students, and players.
