Everton Football Club appointed Sean Dyche as manager after firing Frank Lampard following a series of underwhelming performances. Everton, a team in the English Premier League, are currently battling in 18th place and are desperate for someone to lift them out of a relegation battle.
Dyche found new employment despite being fired in April of 2022 from Burnley, which fell into relegation under his leadership.
Along with Director Kevin Thelwell, Dyche’s first act as manager was to offer a 45 million pound bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
Everton failed to bring in any signings in this year's January transfer window. The sale of Anthony Gordon to Newcastle has brought in some extra funds for the club.
Homer High School Student, Michael Foster, was asked about the appointment of Sean Dyche and said “he is the smartest man for the job” and “clearly knows how to coach a team.”
The start of Dyche’s tenure began by hosting top of the table, Arsenal, at Goodison Park which they managed to battle to 1-0 win.
Arsenal’s loss to Everton was among only three other teams to defeat Arsenal this season: Man United, PSV, and Brighton.
When asked about the hiring of Sean Dyche, Broome County United Coach, Evan Maslin, said: “It’s gonna be interesting watching a struggling team push to stay in the Premier League. Maybe this fight will put a smile on the fans of the Toffees.”
The Toffees have only been relegated twice since the teams formation in 1887. The first time in 1930 and the second in 1951. Since their promotion in 1954, they have remained a top flight team. However, many of those seasons consisted of a seemingly endless fight to stay up.
Currently Everton has 16 goals for and 28 goals against, while currently having a record of 4 wins, 6 draws, and 11 losses. The Toffees next game will be against rivals Liverpool on Monday, February 13th at Anfield.
