Homer’s Senior Gala:
Fashion’s Biggest Night Out

On May seventh, from seven to ten, Homer High School’s students gathered in the gymnasium in celebration of 2022’s Senior Gala. This semi-formal event was hosted by the Student Government as a fundraiser for this year’s Senior class. Freshmen through Seniors were invited and allowed to invite one guest from a different high school.
This Gala served memorable looks as the new trend appeared to be sparkly platform heels and shimmery dresses. The Student Government also provided glow sticks to the students, creating exquisite and eccentric looks and designs throughout the gym. Students had twisted them into glasses and connected them into belts, crowns, and bracelets which created fluorescent and neon flashes as they danced and jumped around to the music. This dance’s DJ’s, Alden Lowell, and, Zane Moheimani, mixed suggestions ranging from classic teen pop songs like “22” by Taylor Swift and “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz to songs to bust a move to like “Cotton Eye Joe'' by Rednex and “Low” by Flo Rida. The variety of nostalgic music was accompanied with lemonades, colas, and chips served at the concession stand.
Nothing was kept secret. Everyone, including myself, was recording and capturing every blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment. Lacey Albro was the photographer for this event, and she worked both around the gym, and in a closed off area in the school designed as a photo booth as it was decorated with a dark gray backdrop, faux ivy, and a variety of glittery hand held props.
