On April 2, musicians and their families came back to the High School gym after two years of cancellation due to Covid restrictions.
Soloists, choir ensembles, instrumental ensembles, and jazz bands from the Junior High and High School performed to a live audience in a relaxed setting. Desserts and refreshments were served.
As a piano soloist and member of the high school jazz band, it brought me joy to be able to perform again. I performed 8th grade and freshman year, so being able to perform for the last time senior year really made everything come full circle.
Katie Vogel, Homer Senior, said that “It was awesome to watch Cabaret and listen to all the musical talent.”
Benjamin Hyde, an alumnus of Homer High School and former member of the jazz band, shared his thoughts on the return of Cabaret: “After years of musical events being canceled, it’s relaxing to finally be able to listen to live music, especially at my alma mater.”
Cabaret was a night to remember, full of music, laughter, and hope. It was a fitting event that brought back an annual Homer tradition.
