On March 1, a new schedule was implemented at Homer High School. The school day now begins at 8:10 a.m., five minutes earlier than the previous start time.
In addition, a ninth and tenth period have been added, allowing students to get more help from their teachers.
Richard Eminem, a junior at Homer High School, is slightly irritated at the new schedule: “I’ve always enjoyed that extra five minutes of calm before the storm. With that taken away, in addition to having to sit in a quiet room with a bunch of people staring at their phones, it doesn’t seem to be a great time.”
Blair Wakula, also a junior at Homer High School, expressed his discontent at the new schedule: “It’s pretty stupid.”
Mrs. Knight, a history teacher at Homer High School, expressed her opinion on the revised schedule: “I like helping students out and seeing if they need assistance on their work.”
So far, students have been able to take advantage of this new schedule to catch up on assignments and work with their teachers.
