The pandemic has been hard for all. Events have been reimagined-- social gatherings, sports, and get-togethers have changed dramatically. Despite all the changes forced by the pandemic, skiing remains an outdoor winter recreation option.
Labrador Mountain has opened to all who wish to get out of their homes and out onto the slopes. However, some restrictions still apply.
Customers must wear masks while in the lodge and must change into their ski apparel in their cars. There are also occupancy limits to buildings, displayed by red flashing lights outside indicating whether maximum capacity has been reached. In addition, as the sign on the ski lift states: “If you arrive together, you can ride together.”
A ski instructor, Raymond Meng, shared his thoughts on the evolving situation:
“Skiing is basically the perfect sport during COVID times, like everyone basically wears a ski mask and everyone’s outside skiing. Nobody gets too close to each other and those who do are mostly families. My job has been fabulous, I’ve been teaching Never-Ever skiers, and things have gone rather smoothly.”
So far, operations have gone smoothly. Skiers and snowboarders are gliding down the slope with glee and joy.
The season runs until late March.
