Cirque Du Soleil’s “Axel”: An On-Ice Spectacular

One September morning, Homer’s International Club went on a trip to Syracuse to see Cirque Du Soleil’s “Axel.” The whole show was over an ice arena with people dangling over the freezing platform in mid-air, jumping and spinning on top of it, and performing floor-stunts and acrobatics on mats spread over the rink. There was an incredible display of live music, from a band to a performer that sung almost every song, and dozens of mind-boggling acts! For example, there was a performance of the aerial silks- with a twist... they were using metal chains as the silks! And all of this with ice-skate blades on their feet. Some of the performers even skated on stilts! It was quite a spectacle. All the students that attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves. “My jaw dropped and stayed there,” I had commented on the show. If you are interested in going on trips like these in the future, please consider joining International Club! Thank you and goodnight Homer Senior High!
