On Saturday, March 30 Homer High hosted Cabaret Night in the Gymnasium. The best and the brightest musical students in the district come together to celebrate the arts. Ranging from pianists to vocalists, parents and community members come to enjoy the music and give money back to the Homer Music Boosters.
Many of the students who performed at the concert had been practicing for months. It is not only an opportunity to hone performance skills, but as a way to make students more comfortable with audiences. Although the performances started at 7, the students had been there earlier to help set up and warm up their instruments.
Community members, friends, and family also volunteered to make baked goods and offer food and drinks to those who were watching, and at the ends of the night all left over goods were sold to the audience.
This year, jazz bands, musical quartets, and even the Junior High choir put their best foot forward. The audience was pleasantly surprised with the night’s performances, and it was said to be one of the best Cabaret Nights, yet.
