Q&A with Dante Yacavone, one of the Homer Varsity Football players that was chosen for the first team all CNY.
Ali: How long have you been playing football?
Dante: I have been playing football since 2nd grade, so that would be 11 years of football.
Ali: Do you play any other sports? If so, do you like one better than football? Why? If not, why do you prefer football?
Dante: I also play lacrosse. I prefer lacrosse because my dad played lacrosse in college, and I will also play in college. But football is one of the greatest experiences of my life, and I would love to play again.
Ali: Why do you think you were chosen for the CNY First Team?
Dante: I think I was chosen for First Team all CNY because I was on a well-coached team, and I tried my hardest every game. Also, our team was one of the best in the state, which helps out a lot.
Ali: What characteristics do you possess that you think are beneficial to any sports team?
Dante: I am very competitive, which is necessary on any sports team because you have to want to win and try your hardest to be successful.
Ali: What do you think stands out about the Homer varsity football team over others?
Dante: The Homer Varsity football team stands out compared to other teams because of the coaching staff and the will of the players. The coaches have so much experience and knowledge about football, which really shows in games and in practice. The players are confident in their coaches and want to try their hardest for the team and the coaches.
