Sunday, May 6th
My mother has been here
4.5 billion years
She has endured many hardships
But was never brought to tears.
She has many craters,
She was often in great strife.
But never did she fear
For her precious life.
But now she pleas for help
And cries, “oh help me, help me please
I’m choking on your ashes
And you’re killing all my trees.”
She cries, “I am burning!”
But the people at the top
The ones with all the power,
Will not make it stop.
They do nothing to help.
They say, “You’re lying to us all
We do not believe you.”
But this issue won't dissolve.
She has survived everything,
At least that’s true so far,
She will survive this too
But, to you sitting by the bar,
“You might not, she’s our world
She breathed life into you.
Don’t you care about her agony?”
But you just stumbled right on through.
We may not see it now,
But she cries not for herself,
She cries out for us to hear.
She cries out for our health.
My mother has been here
4.5 billion years
She will endure this hardship
But we must face her fears.
