This year, we will be focusing on three key reading approaches to help build your child’s literacy skills:
Reading to: In this approach, the teacher reads aloud to the children. It helps model fluent reading and exposes them to rich language, new vocabulary, and various text structures.
Shared Reading: In this approach, the teacher and students read together. It encourages active participation as children follow along, predict words, and practice reading strategies in a supportive group setting.
Guided Reading: This is a small-group approach where students read at their own level with teacher guidance. It allows for targeted instruction and helps students develop essential reading strategies tailored to their needs. This will be implemented using a structured literacy approach, ensuring systematic and explicit teaching to support all learners.
Happy reading!
