teaching philosophy
my teaching goal is to "prepare the child for the path, not the path for the child". i strive to create a classroom atmosphere where every student can learn because they feel safe, respected, and welcome. i want all students to leave our classroom every day feeling proud of the choices they made and prepared to overcome any challenges they might face in or outside of school.
i view fourth grade as a "bridge year" during which students are transitioning into more independent and responsible individuals who take ownership of their choices and develop the confidence to advocate for themselves. In my classroom, mistakes, questions, discussions, and differing perspectives are encouraged. respect, responsibility, and kindness are the foundations on which our classroom is built.
"Work hard. be kind."
