Phonics & Reading
Letter Sounds: Master all short vowels, long vowels, and consonant sounds.
Word Building: Blend and spell words with digraphs (sh, ch), blends (st, bl), and suffixes (-ed, -ing).
Syllable Patterns: Read basic closed syllables (like cat) and silent-E words (like bike).
Trick Words: Recognize and spell roughly 100 common sight words.
Handwriting & Writing
Letter Formation: Write all lowercase and uppercase letters neatly on lined paper.
Sentences: Write complete sentences using proper capitalization and punctuation.
Addition and subtraction facts and strategies within 20
Addition and subtraction relationships within 20
Adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers
Measurement and length: order, compare, measure with ruler using inches
Place value to 120: ones, tens hundred, expanded form, ordering, comparing numbers
Graphs: reading and making, tally graphs, picture graphs
Geometry: attributes of two and three dimensional shapes
Equal shares: halves, fourths
Time: telling time to hour and half hour, time patterns
Money: counting with pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, one dollar

Parts of speech: nouns (proper, common, possessive), verbs (ending in “s”, being verbs, action verbs), pronouns, adjectives, contractions, synonyms,
