Students’ grades fall into one of the four weighted categories below:

Homework: 10%

Classwork:  20%

Quizzes:  30%

Tests:  40%

All grades are posted in Option C on a regular basis and returned to students to place in their assessment folder. Grades 6-8 students and parents are given login information to access to their grades. 

If your child is going to be absent, please call the school and leave a message or send an email to your child’s homeroom teacher.  When your child returns to school, please send an absent note or email. 

When a student is absent, it is their responsibility to check the absent folder in each class upon return to school. 

It is also the responsibility of the student to ensure that all make up work is completed within a timely manner. Students who do not complete assignments on time will have points deducted. Failure to complete the assignments will result in either a zero or failing grade. 

Due dates for projects and graded assignments must be met. Students who fail to complete the assignment have until the following day to turn in the work. Assignments that are turned in late, will have points deducted from the final grade as determined by the teacher. Failure to follow this procedure will result in a failing grade. Homework that is not completed by the due date will be given a zero. Please note: Three missed/late homework assignments for a teacher will result in a demerit.

Part of being a Junior High student is working on developing time-management skills.  There will be homework every night.  Some of the homework will be given on a nightly basis, which means it will be due the next day, while others may be “longer-term” assignments.  With these assignments, it is important that students get into the habit of working a little each night in order to reduce stress and produce quality work.  On nights when there is no written homework, it is expected that the students use the time for studying.

Reminder: Three missed/late homework assignments for a teacher will result in a demerit.

Important information, as well as homework assignments, upcoming tests, project due dates, etc. will be posted in the Google Classroom of the teacher for that subject.  It is important that students check all of their teachers’ classrooms for work due.
