Hello and welcome back! 

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer filled with fun, rest, and special memories. I will be continuing my maternity leave through the month of September and will return to the classroom October 5th. While I am away Mrs. Jen Preston will be covering 2nd grade with our aide Miss Alyssa, I know the students will be in great hands for the beginning of this new school year! 

September is a very important month in the classroom as we get to know one another and begin building our classroom community. Much of our time will be spent learning and practicing our classroom routines and procedures so that students feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn. 

Academically, September will also be a time for us to take a closer look at what students already know. We will review important first-grade skills, complete some beginning-of-year activities and assessments, and identify areas where students may need a little extra practice or refreshing. This will help me better understand each child's strengths and learning needs. The goal this month is to create a strong foundation for a successful year!
