Hands-on Activities:

  • Letter formation of name with play doh, shaving cream, crayons, or markers

  • Practice writing ABCs. We always practice our letters starting at the top, never at the bottom. We use key words like big line down, big curve to the bottom, froggy jump, little line across, little curve to the middle, and slide down.

  • Create and draw pictures using crayons, markers, paint, water colors

  • Rolling dice and counting (draw the amount rolled - try drawing different shapes each time)

  • Roll play doh to make different shapes/count to a certain number; (practice vocabulary words like fewer, most, more than, less than, as many as, different, alike, same, big, medium, small)

  • Counting up to 5, 10, 15, 20...50. Use buttons, beans, pasta, cereal, mini erasers, etc. and count as many as you can.

  • Sort objects around the house by color, shape, and size

  • Draw/color to make a pattern (ex: red-yellow-red or square-circle-circle)

  • Find objects around the house and name what letter it starts with; try saying the sound

  • Reading picture books
