My name is Kristy Taylor and I am happy to serve as the school counselor at Holy Family School!  I am part of the school counseling team with St. Elizabeth-Catholic Charities and excited to be at Holy Family School on Mondays and Thursdays.  Whether you are joining Holy Family School for the first time, or are returning, I’m glad you are here and I look forward to supporting you throughout the school year.

My role as the school counselor is to support the academic, social-emotional, and career development of our students.  Throughout the school year, I will be working with students individually, in small groups, and in the classroom.  I will be working with students to build skills like emotional awareness, strengthening friendships, problem-solving, self-confidence, managing stress and emotions, building self-awareness, setting goals and creating action plans to achieve them, responsibility, and resilience. I am also here to support and collaborate with our teachers, staff, and families.  

Some of the ways I support students and families include:

• Classroom guidance lessons focused on social-emotional learning

• Short-term individual counseling and small group support

• Crisis intervention and conflict resolution

• Collaborating with teachers, families, and staff to support the whole child

• Connecting with outside resources if needed

This year, as we focus on our school-wide theme, “Lead Like An Eagle”, I look forward to working together as a team with our families, students, and teachers/staff to help every student discover their leadership potential and provide opportunities for them to learn and practice the skills necessary to grow into the individual leaders they will become.
