The LaPorte Center is located at 2707 N. US-35, LaPorte, IN 46350.
The center is about a 30 minute drive from the South Bend International Airport (SBN). Alternatively, LaPorte, Indiana is about a 1.75 hour drive from Chicago.
South Bend colleagues can opt to drive individually, or carpool to the LaPorte Center.
If you are flying in from a campus with more than one attendees, we recommend coordinating your campus travel together, by taking the same flight to either Chicago or South Bend. Renting one vehicle from Chicago is good stewardship of the grant funds, and we appreciate your attention to this request.
Any delegates flying in to South Bend International Airport can communicate ground transportation needs by emailing Alexis Cleaver at ACLEAVER@holycrossusa.org.
✈️ An Important Update Regarding Air Travel: Starting May 7, 2025, a REAL ID-compliant driver's license, state-issued ID, or another acceptable form of identification will be required for domestic flights. A regular, non-REAL ID driver's license will no longer be accepted. This includes passengers 18 years and older. Alternatively, a valid US Passport will also work for domestic flights. The US Province of the Congregation of Holy Cross, along with the Collegium Catalyst Grant Award, will be covering all food, beverage, lodging, and program cost of the retreat.
Please forward travel receipts for reimbursement to Alexis Cleaver at ACLEAVER@holycrossusa.org.
Our retreat is hosted at the Holy Cross retreat center in LaPorte, IN. Complete with a chapel, guest lodging, social spaces, conference center, and a religious residence, the retreat center is located on a beautiful plot of land including two ponds and walking trails.
Holy Cross men regularly come to LaPorte for events--such as annual retreats or Seminary Orientation--or for private reflection. We love this property and what it represents for our community...particularly because it is well situated to be the perfect space for an experience such as the Collegium Charism Retreat.
We are glad to host you this summer!

The property is a former thoroughbred horse farm--the childhood home of Charlie Finley, former owner of the Oakland A's baseball team. Ludger Lodge, where we will spend our social time, was the actual former horse stables for the farm. They have been lovingly renovated, but you can still spot some fascinating touches that harken back to the history of this property.
Imagine gentle rolling hills, two large ponds, and exquisite vistas of the Indiana landscape...all yours for the enjoyment!
While there is not a fitness room on property, there is an elliptical trainer located on the 2nd floor of Ludger Lodge. A basketball court can be found behind Ewald House and Peyton House. Rustic walking trails are available around the perimeter of the property for those seeking a bit more adventure in nature.
Ludger Lodge has an expansive front porch with swings, and a gas fireplace with comfortable seating in the main social space, a pool table and dart board, and board games on the second floor. A television can be located in the Ludger Trophy Room.
Have you ever been to "Chicago"? You'll have to learn the reference during your visit to Ludger Lodge! It may not be what you think!
Ludger Lodge will always be complete with hospitality (including snacks & beverages) to aid in our fellowship gatherings into the evenings.
