The next Listen and Learn book will start on Monday, July 20th with the book Eloquent Rage: A Black Feminist Discovers Her Superpower by Brittney C. Cooper. If you are interested in participating in this book club, please complete the registration form by July 16th.
Far too often, Black women’s anger has been caricatured into an ugly and destructive force that threatens the civility and social fabric of American democracy. But Cooper shows us that there is more to the story than that. Black women’s eloquent rage is what makes Serena Williams such a powerful tennis player. It’s what makes Beyoncé’s girl power anthems resonate so hard. It’s what makes Michelle Obama an icon. Eloquent rage keeps us all honest and accountable. It reminds women that they don’t have to settle for less. When Cooper learned of her grandmother's eloquent rage about love, sex, and marriage in an epic and hilarious front-porch confrontation, her life was changed. And it took another intervention, this time staged by one of her homegirls, to turn Brittney into the fierce feminist she is today. This book argues that ultimately feminism, friendship, and faith in one's own superpowers are all we really need to turn things right side up again.

What is it? When uninvited internet guests show up on Zoom sessions and "bomb" them with vulgar or hateful images or phrases.
How do I prevent it?
Do not make meetings public. Require a meeting password or allow participants to use the waiting room feature on Zoom.
Only share meeting invite links with specific people.
Manage screen-sharing options and only allow the meeting host to share their screen.
Make sure people are using the most updated version of the app.
What if it happens to me? In the unlikely event you do experience a Zoombombing, please report it to the new Director for Title IX and Equal Opportunity, Derek DeBobes.
Check out Zoom's Security Page for more details and helpful tips.
