Mr. Thayer's Third Grade Class

About Mr. Thayer

Hello everyone and welcome to third grade! We are so excited to have the students back learning with us after a long spring and summer. I wanted to take a few minutes and introduce myself and what our classroom will look like this fall. Let’s get started!

My name is Mr. Travis Thayer. The students usually call me Mr. Thayer or Mr. T. This is my second-year teaching as well as my second year at

Holton. I grew up in Silver Lake, Kansas and graduated from Washburn University in the spring of 2019 with a Bachelor of Education degree. I have a beautiful wife (Ariele) of 2 years and an 8-month-old (Kooper)! I also coach cross country in the fall. I currently live in Topeka, Kansas so I commute about 40 minutes each way every day. My teaching beliefs are very much student centered. I truly believe that in order to have a well-rounded classroom, the students must feel safe and comfortable with the teacher and his or her fellow students. Students learn by me showing them, then they try it, then they eventually teach it to another student.

Some hobbies of mine are running, being outdoors, spending time with family, and grilling. Teaching and coaching are my main passions as I love to help students and athletes compete and begin to excel as their confidence begins to blossom.

I am looking forward to an amazing year. This year will be different no doubt about it, but as long as we work together through good communication and trust, we WILL be able to do this!

I cannot wait to meet all of the rockstar third graders!
